Feet to cm converter
This feet to cm converter takes a height in feet and inches and gives it in centimeters, with one field for the feet and one for the inches, so 5 ft 9 in reads 175.26 cm straight away, the figure a metric form asks for.
Formula: cm = ft × 30.48 + in × 2.54 5 × 30.48 + 9 × 2.54 = 175.26

Using the feet to cm converter
Type the feet in the first field and the inches in the second. Leave the inches empty for a round figure: 6 ft is 182.88 cm. Decimal inches work as well, 5 ft 9.5 in included. Below the result, the list repeats the height in meters, plain inches and decimal feet. The round button opens the cm to feet converter for the reverse trip.
NIST fixes the inch at 2.54 cm, with no rounding, so a foot of 12 inches is exactly 30.48 cm. The feet to cm converter adds both parts: 5 × 30.48 = 152.4, plus 9 × 2.54 = 22.86, for a total of 175.26 cm. Because both factors are exact, the answer carries no hidden error; it is only shortened for display.

Feet and inches to cm, when the form says metric
Most countries record height in centimeters, so an American abroad meets the question often: a clinic intake form, a gym body scan, a sports club registration. 5 ft 4 in is 162.56 cm, 5 ft 11 in is 180.34 cm and 6 ft 2 in is 187.96 cm. Round to the nearest centimeter unless the form asks for more; the feet to cm converter gives you the hundredths either way. The same form often wants your weight in kilograms, which the lbs to kg converter covers.
Bike shops outside the US size frames from rider height in centimeters, and so do the sizing guides of most European brands: run your height through the feet to cm converter before choosing between two frames. Theme parks in Europe post minimum heights in cm as well, and a child of 4 ft, 121.92 cm, clears a 120 cm limit.
Team sheets abroad work the same way. An American player listed at 6 ft 6 in back home appears as 198.12 cm on a European roster, and the feet to cm converter gives that figure without a calculator.
Do not type 5.9 to mean 5 ft 9 in. Read as decimal feet, 5.9 ft is 5 ft 10.8 in, almost 5 cm taller, and the two separate fields exist to avoid that slip when you convert feet and inches to cm. For a printed reference, our height conversion chart runs from 5 ft 2 in to 6 ft 5 in.
